I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Today was such a great day! This morning I went out to practice my arabic. I went to the juice place and the bakery and practiced. There are a couple of places where we are becoming "regulars". This is nice because they know we are trying to learn the language and are willing to help. Then for lunch I went to a wonderful little hole in the wall place where the guy makes the hummus right in front of you! It is so fun trying out the language, even if i get it wrong. Knowing some arabic makes us feel like we are really a part of the place, not just outsiders. In the evening Walid took us out for a long walk around the city and we got to see many places that were new to us. I was very disappointed in myself- at one point a girl stopped us to see Isaiah. We told her his name and that it was from the Bible... and she had no idea what we were talking about. She had never even heard of the Bible.... and I didn't have any Bibles with me! I can't tell you how crushed I was. What was I doing? Why would I go for a walk around the city without taking any Bibles with me?! I pray that it won't happen again. Pray for a boldness in our witnessing, whether we know the language or not. Isaiah opens so many doors for conversations because everyone thinks he is so cute. And Isaiah means "Salvation is from the Lord".
Tomorrow is church and we will be staying in Tyre for the night. Monday we are going to visit some of the Bedouin villages. We will be back in Beirut Monday evening. I doubt i will be able to write anything on the blog tomorrow- but I will try and catch up Monday night.
Isaiah is feeling much better, but continue to pray for him as we travel. Pray for us as this will be our first night staying in Tyre at the church. Also please pray for the missionary that we are going to visit Monday, Jonathon, and his family. Pray that the Lord would guide them in where He wants them to go and what He wants them to do. Pray that the Lord would use them for His glory. And again I ask that you would pray for boldness in our ministry here... boldness to witness- even if we have a hard time with the language. Pray that the Lord would give us discernment and guide us as we come and go throughout the day talking with people. Pray that He would use these weak vessels for His glory. And pray that the Lord would pour out His grace upon the people in Lebanon.
The region and its people are wonderful. We too pray for your growth there, and that you move others by you rexample!
